Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in January 2024 was 2.57 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.19. The highest inflation by province was seen in Papua Tengah Province at 4.76 percent with a CPI of 107.60, while the lowest was seen in Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province at 1.21 percent with a CPI of 103.60. The highest inflation by regency/city was seen in Toli-Toli Regency at 6.76 percent with a CPI of 110.31, while the lowest was seen in Mamuju at 0.86 percent with a CPI of 103.26. On the other hand, Belitung Timur Regency had a deflation of 0.41 percent with a CPI of 103.29.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 5.84 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 1.02 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.58 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 1.20 percent; Health Group of 1.88 percent; Transport Group of 1.11 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.68 percent; Education Group of 1.57 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.37 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 3.01 percent. Meanwhile, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.11 percent;
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in January 2024 was 0.04 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation in January 2024 was 0.04 percent.
For the Core Component, the y-on-y inflation rate in January 2024 was 1.68 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.20 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 0.20 percent.
