Abstract

In December 2024, year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation was 1.57 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.80. The highest provincial inflation y-on-y occurred in Papua Pegunungan Province at 5.36 percent with a CPI of 111.80 and the lowest occurred in North Sulawesi Province at 0.44 percent with a CPI of 107.28. Provincial deflation y-on-y occurred in Gorontalo Province at 0.79 percent with a CPI of 106.60. Meanwhile, the highest district/city inflation y-on-y occurred in Jayawijaya Regency at 5.36 percent with a CPI of 111.80 and the lowest occurred in North Minahasa Regency at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 110.61. The deepest y-on-y district/city deflation occurred in Gorontalo City at 1.10 percent with a CPI of 105.07 and the lowest occurred in Muko Muko Regency at 0.16 percent with a CPI of 104.79.
The y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in most expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.90 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 1.16 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.59 percent; the household equipment, tools and routine maintenance group by 1.04 percent; the health group by 1.93 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 1.17 percent; the education group by 1.94 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 2.48 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 7.02 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the index were: the transportation group by 0.30 percent and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.27 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in December 2024 was 0.44 percent and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate in December 2024 was 1.57 percent.
The y-on-y inflation rate of the core component in December 2024 was 2.26 percent, m-to-m inflation was 0.17 percent, and y-to-d inflation was 2.26 percent.
