Abstract

  • In December 2023, international visitor arrivals in Indonesia were 1.14 million. International visitors increased by 22.91 percent compared with November 2023 (month-to-month) and increased by 20.17 percent compared with December 2022 (year-on-year). International arrivals in December 2023 was dominated by visitors from Malaysia (18.45 percent), Singapore (16.41 percent), and Australia (11.87 percent).
  • Cumulatively, the international visitor arrivals from January to December 2023 also increased by 98.30 percent compared with 2022. This increase in international visitors was mainly recorded at Ngurah Rai Airport-Bali and Soekarno Hatta Airport-Banten, which increased by 143.64 percent and 108.95 percent, respectively.
  • The number of outbound trips in 2023 was 7.52 million, an increase of 112.26 percent to the previous year, which was 3.54 million. In 2023, Malaysia became the leading destination country for outbound trips (27.98 percent).
  • The room occupancy rate (ROR) of classified hotels in December 2023 was 59.74 percent, which increased by 2.84 percentage points compared with December 2022 (year-on-year) and 3.02 percentage points compared with the previous month (month-to-month). Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate of non-classified hotels was 28.67 percent, which increased by 2.22 percentage points compared with December 2022 (year-on-year) and 3.01 percentage points compared with previous month (month-to-month). The average length of stay at classified hotels in December 2023 was 1.57 days, declined by 0.05 points compared with December 2022.
