Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in December 2023 was 2.61 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 116.56. The highest inflation was seen in Sumenep at 5.08 percent with a CPI of 120.82, while the lowest was seen in Bandung at 0.63 percent with a CPI of 116.16.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in all expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 6.18 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 0.78 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.50 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 1.57 percent; Health Group of 1.94 percent; Transport Group of 1.27 percent; Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.20 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.69 percent; Education Group of 1.97 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.07 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 3.55 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in December 2023 was 0.41 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation in December 2023 was 2.61 percent.
For the Core Component, the y-on-y inflation rate in December 2023 was 1.80 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.14 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 1.80 percent.
