Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in July 2023 was 3.08 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.24. The highest inflation saw in Merauke at 5.21 percent each with a CPI of 116.10, while the lowest saw in Gunungsitoli at 0.50 percent with a CPI of 116.28.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 1.90 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 1.42 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 2.03 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 2.37 percent; Health Group of 2.69 percent; Transport Group of 9.58 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 2.02 percent; Education Group of 3.07 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 3.08 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 3.98 percent. On the other hand, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.24 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in July 2023 was 0.21 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation in July 2023 was 1.45 percent.
For the Core Component, the y-on-y inflation rate in July 2023 was 2.43 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.13 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 1.20 percent.
