Abstract

  • FTT is the ratio of the index of prices received by farmers (It) and the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib).
  • FTT is an indicator to measure the farmers’ purchasing power parity in rural areas. FTT shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumption and production costs.
  • In May 2024, national FTT was 116.71 or decreased by 0.06 percent compared with that in April 2024. The decrease in FTT was due to the decrease in the index of prices received by farmers (It) at 0.16 percent, which was higher than the decrease in the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) at 0.10 percent.
  • In May 2024, Sulawesi Barat Province had the highest decrease in FTT at 3.13 percent. On the other hand, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province experienced the highest increase in FTT at 2.17 percent.
  • The price index of household consumption (IKRT) in May 2024 decreased by 0.22 percent in Indonesia, which was due to the decrease in index of food, beverage, and tobacco expenditure group.
  • Nationally, Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) was 119.92 in May 2024 or decreased by 0.27 percent compared with April 2024.
  • Paddy sales transactions in 27 provinces during May 2024, recorded transactions of the dried harvested grain (GKP) at 66.16 percent, the dried unhusked grain (GKG) at 19.74 percent, and the other quality at 14.10 percent.
  • In May 2024, the average GKP price at the farmer level was Rp5,842 per kg or increased by 2.73 percent and the average GKP price at the huller level was Rp5,993 per kg or increased by 2.75 percent compared to the price of similar quality paddy in April 2024. The average price of GKG at the farmer level was Rp6,676 per kg or decreased by 4.06 percent and at the huller level was Rp6,797 per kg or decreased by 3.83 percent. The price of the other quality paddy at the farmer level was Rp5,449 per kg or increased by 5.47 percent while at the huller level was Rp5,576 per kg or increased by 5.31 percent.
  • Compared to May 2023, the average price of paddy at the farmer level in May 2024 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 4.64 percent, 8.40 percent, and 0.84 percent, respectively. At the huller level, the average price of paddy in May 2024 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 4.55 percent, 8.49 percent, and 1.05 percent, respectively.
  • In May 2024, the average price of premium quality rice at the huller level was Rp13,000 per kg or decreased by 3.79 percent compared to the price of similar quality rice in April 2024, while the price of medium quality rice at the huller level was Rp12,071 per kg or decreased by 5.39 percent, the average price of submedium quality rice at the huller level was Rp11,996 per kg or decreased by 3.08 percent, and the average price of the broken quality rice at the huller level was Rp11,700 per kg or decreased by 5.39 percent. 
  • Compared to the May 2023, the average price of rice at the huller level in May 2024 for premium, medium, submedium, and the broken quality increased by 11.84 percent, 9.68 percent, 13.93 percent, and 20.23 percent, respectively.
