Last week, on Friday (1/12) BPS Nunukan Regency held a meeting with DKPP regarding the 2023 Food Crop and Horticulture Data Evaluation.
This activity aims to see the state of data on food crops and horticulture in 2023, including data entry, data fairness and consistency until then. One of the issues that was discussed was that the rice harvest area in Nunukan had decreased from the previous year.
Based on information from DKPP representatives, the decline in rice land area was caused by the conversion of rice farming land, the changing of the profession of rice farmers to seaweed farmers, crop failures due to floods and pests, as well as many farmers who did not want their children to become farmers and thus lost successors.
However, according to DKPP representatives, this will not last long, in December there will be a fairly large rice harvest in Krayan, which might boost rice production in 2023.
